It Works On Linux

System administration, automation, and monitoring

About

I’ve been a system administrator for almost 10 years now. I’ve been responsible for server systems ranging from mainframe, to Windows, to Solaris, to HP-UX, to Linux (mostly of the Red Hat varieties).

The title of this site originates from my workplace. At least twice a week I will find myself responding to a technical question from a colleague with “it works on Linux”. The truth is, Linux is by far the most flexible operating environment I’ve found. You can do practically anything, and it’s pretty likely that can google up some notes from someone that has done something very similar to what you’re trying to do. I hope to help with that last bit a little with this blog. I’ll attempt to share some of the Linux/Unix goodies I come across so that others can benefit from that work.
